Aren't you concerned about being taught by someone who is, effectively, another student?
No not really. DPhil students only teach their own specialisms and the tutorial system itself doesn't exist at other universities. All lecturers are very well-renowned in their subject matter and some have professorships, and my tutors for the core papers will certainly have a DPhil at the very least.

No. I'm interested in what "makes" them bad.
THE FACT THAT THEY STATISTICALLY ARE THE WORST UNIVERSITITES IN TERMS OF RESEARCH, QUALITY OF FACILITIES, STANDARDS, STUDENTS, PRESTIGE, AND PASS RATES ETC.
THINGS OF LITTLE IMPORTANCE.......

No it's a college of higher education

i live near Edge Hill and it is a Uni/College.
It's official title is "Edge Hill College of Higher Education".
It awards degrees that are accredited by Lancaster Uni ie it isn't allowed to award it's own degrees.
Degree awarding powers are the think that defines a University.
Lancaster Uni is a university, Liverpool Uni is a uni, Liverpool JM university is a uni, Liverpool Hope is a University College (a college of HE like edge hill) which awards degrees accredited by the Uni of Liverpool.

Not too sure about England, but Banger Uni is the worse in Wales (so i've heard)
For sport studies it is the second best statistically in the UK. But must admit that the city is a bit of a dump.

Although a University may not have a good reputation generally does not mean it doesn't offer good courses. I go to UCLAN which someone previously claimed was the worst in the country. It certaintly is not the worst statistically, and yes we do have the 6th largest number of students, or so ive been told, but thats beside the point. I know it doesn't have the best reputation nationally but some of its courses are rated amonst the best in the country. For example im doing Journalism. UCLAN offers one of, if not the best, Journalism degree in the country,statistically. It recieved an excellent rating in the last teaching assesments. Our tutors are all experienced broadcasters and writers which gives them just as much right to lecture as our academic lecturers. It may seem like ive gone off the point but what im saying is you should judge people on the course they take rather than the university as a whole.I got ABB at a-level and could have applied to more prestigious universities but I chose UCLAN based on the course. Besides even if someone is doing a badly rated course at a badly rated uni at least they are trying to better themselves and are still getting an education.
