Currently staying at Uni accommodation but am considering moving back to London and studying from home at a London uni. I know you don’t get the typical uni experience staying at home but was wondering if with the whole COVID situation I’d be missing out on much.

Unlikely. It depends what you want, plus maybe it's only for the first year? If this is more convenient for you and this is what you want, then do it! But be wary that you'll likely have to find someone to take over your tenancy contract otherwise you'll be stuck paying for it for the year.

Honestly you won’t be missing out on anything that significant due to covid. You can always move out in second year if you want to
