Filling in UCAS music grades?!?!!?

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything over the last few pages of tabs.

Basically, when inputting a music grade into UCAS, in the 'mark' box, should I put the actual numerical mark, e.g. 132, or the Pass Level, e.g. D for Distinction?

The problem is that I've done one of my instruments with The Associated Board, which has a marks total of 150,graded as 100 Pass, 120 Merit, 130 Distinction; but I;ve taken my other instrument with Guildhall, which has a total of 350, scaled as 175 pass, 225 Merit, 280 Honours, 315 High Honours!

What's the best way for me to put these on the form?

Thanks for any help!
can you choose a different exam board for your different instruments? that's what i did- and i put in the numerical mark. hope that helps
I literally put 'Pass' because my stupid piano teacher didn't give me my sheet with my numbers on it so I don't know what I got, just that I passed it.

I don't know whether that's right. but whatever.

Thanks for the comments. Yeh, I've selected different boards, but I was just wondering whether the numerical marks would be converted into the UCAS points they deserve, especially if different boards have different totals. Anyone else had problems over this same issue?

I heard that anything Grade 6 or higher gets UCAS points, but I don't know how many,

Put the numbers in. I think there's a place where you can put whether it was ABRSM, Guildhall, etc. At least there was when I did it!

Though again, it depends what you're applying for and whether these places pay any attention to music grades. If you're not applying for Music, it might be better to put Pass/Merit/Distinction, because they might not be able to tell from the numerical marks and they probs won't waste their time by checking.

So if you're applying for Music or something related to Music, put the numerical marks. If not, maybe just put Pass, Merit, Distinction, Honours, etc.

They will get the number of points they deserve, don't worry. Though remember not all unis will even look at music grades, let alone take the points into consideration.

I've been trying to fill this section in... but I'm a bit confused. At the moment I've filled in my G8 practical - (I've put 'merit' but is it better to put the numerical mark??) But it has ALL the grades there.. from G1 onwards - is it worth putting them on? The only one I skipped was G7. I just did G6 (Distinction) but do I only put down the highest grade achieved? I've also put down my G5 theory although I know it doesn't carry any points I think it shows that I was dedicated enough to put up with the nightmare that is music theory! :s-smilie:

IMO, it's only worth putting all the grades 1-8 down in two instances:

1) If you want to show that you've consistently got Distinctions from Grades 1-8

2) If you are applying for Music and haven't already done your Grade 8, due to the fact that you haven't been playing that instrument very long.

Put the numerical mark down if it was something like 128, to show that you just missed a Distinction. I think it's worth putting Grade 5 Theory down, coz it really is a nightmare!

Don't worry about this part of the form too much unless you're applying for Music, because many unis won't count those UCAS points
Oh my God! I didn't realise you could enter these qualifications!! I got D G8 as well, damnit!!
Can you put your grade 8 mark in after you have sent off your form?

This thread is 6 years old, so the original poster is long gone. No, you can't add anything to your form after it's sent, but you can call Ucas and ask them to do so. They will quite likely tell you to contact the universities and tell them separately.
