To get in A gcse latin I tested myself on 100 random words on the cambridge latin course website every morning, I also had four 50 minute lessons every week.

And no, latin has no coursework at all.

edit- it would be very hard teaching yourself the poetry and prose.

Would it be that hard to get a C?

are you serious?............
latin is one of the hardest subjects at gcse, so yes it can be, unless you work hard.

yes I am serious, it tooks around 1 minute when I got used to it.
It's the hardest subject I did, and that was with a really helpful teacher!

Are you starting fromno knowledge at all? If so I'd say it would not be possible in that time. I had 3 or 4 lessons a week and another 4 hours of homework during GCSE and had been learning for 4 years by the time of the GCSE exam although I think it could be done in 1-2 years if you really put the effort in. I would think you'd need access to a Latin teacher though and the set texts would have been near impossible without my Latin teacher. If you really want to do it maybe find an online course or tutor
Good luck if you do try it!

I need to do some kind of GCSE in a year. I need something thta has no coursework, just an exam. I was looking at languages.
Unless you are really interested in Latin, and willing to work hard, then I'd say either find another subject to do, or don't do it and concentrate on your main subjects.

why not try a modern language? What year are you in?

Is bussiness studies just an exam? I think I would be bale to self teach that, no problem.

I'd have thought all languages would need some sort of teacher as they have an oral part so you'd need someone to practice with. I have no idea what still has coursework but I'd have thought most subjects would have a no coursework option. What else are you taking?
latin has no oral or coursework, but all other languages have orals and coursework.

You really need to look at the spec. before making decisions.

It took me two years (at college whilst studying A-levels) to go from no Latin at all to an A at GCSE, I'd be impressed if you passed at all without a teacher. It was hard work but enjoyable but needed a few hours per week.

For OCR there is a coursework option but of course no oral examination.
