I want to join the university's music society, and as all of the events are held online for the forseeable future, I joined the society's Discord server, and lo and behold, my ex had joined hours before. I am a second year, and had been with my ex for three years, right up until the abrupt end of first year. I had hoped to participate in this society last year, however I never found the time to take part, nor did my ex. Now I find the perfect opportunity to do so, and I find myself unsure as to whether or not I should join? I don't particularly want to hear or see my ex if I can help it, however I do not wish to miss out on this opportunity on account of one person. Should I just suck it up and join, or let go and try to find a different group?

honestly, just join it. If this is something youve wanted to do for a long time then u cant let one person get in the way of that

Depends how painful contact with you’re ex is and if you are over her. If in doubt I would find something else rather than have the distraction
