Access course help?? (Paramedic/nursing)Watch
I’m 26 and I’ve decided that I would want to go to university to study to become a paramedic. I never went to college so I don’t have any A-Levels but I have GCSE’s. I’ve been looking into going to university and I understand I need to do an access course first. My local college offers an access course in nursing but would this be enough to get me onto a paramedic science course at university? Or would a different access course be better? And would an access course even be enough for me to get into university??
Any advice welcome!
For example, Brighton accepts nursing access courses (https://www.brighton.ac.uk/courses/s...-bsc-hons.aspx), but it's unclear for St George Uni of London (https://www.sgul.ac.uk/study/courses...entry-criteria), Anglia Ruskin (https://aru.ac.uk/study/undergraduat...y_requirements), Portsmouth (https://registryhub.port.ac.uk/entry...022.1602103158), or Suffolk Uni (https://www.uos.ac.uk/courses/ug/bsc...amedic-science).
From the look of the above, it's probably safer to do a pure science Access course, but it doesn't hurt to call to check first before switching. If you later decide to switch to nursing, the Access course can help although a pure Science course is just as good (I've classmates who got onto nursing from a pure science Access course).
