Physical Chemistry UnisWatch
I am applying for Chemistry and vastly prefer Physical Chemistry to Organic Chemistry due to the connection to Physics. I have already applied to Oxford, and am considering Durham, St Andrews, Bristol, York, and Warwick. Are there any unis in particular that place a emphasis on the Physical side of Chemistry (Quantum mechanics, Thermodynamics etc..) within their Chemistry course? Also, if I end up doing a PHD or MSC, would it be possible for me to do one on particle physics if what I do at undergraduate level places an emphasis on Physical Chemistry (silly question)?
I only mention this because my DD knows someone doing it. Or look at nat sci courses where you can combine chemistry and physics
DD has just started a straight chemistry course and it is very much balanced between physical, organic and inorganic,
I think if you want to do further research in particle physics then a physics degree might be the way to go, but I could be wrong! (DS has just finished a physics degree - one of his modules in the last year was particle physics and he really struggled with it!)
