Hi,

I’ve heard it’s rare to transfer to a different college after admission. But, I’m thinking of bringing it up to my current college..

I’m not interested in moving to one of more popular ones, but rather want to be at less known (and maybe poorer) one. College transfer is handled in the priciples of consistency, fairenes and etc. and preferring a college that’s known to be not popular won’t make it easier I believe. However, I’m still curious to know if it may work in favour of me.

For context, I’m a postgrad (phd). I chose the college with no prudence I admit. I didn’t think choice of College is important when applying. However, from day 1 of actually living in the college, I’ve been feeling awful about me not having done more thorough thinking.. I mean the current one is great (people say it). But it’s just not for me and I’d rather want to be elsewhere which I would have been admitted if I chose it as it’s not usually oversubscribed..

I just can’t get over it and been terribly disturbed by this thought (couldn’t even sleep well since moved in). I know it sounds a bit pathetic, but I would appreciate any advice/ thoughts on how I should initiate the transfer request (with sr tutor) and any previous cases that I could reference.

Thanks!
