I thought you weren't allowed to scale down the numbers unless it was an ionic compound? Using the valencies, I think the compound's formula is C204

Ionic compounds have formulae representing the simplest formula unit of the giant ionic lattice.
Simple covalent compounds have formulae that show the actual numbers of atoms in the molecule.
