Any advice what I need to put on my UCAS personal statement regarding my intentions to defer a year?

Apparently I need to add this on my UCAS application - presuming this needs to go in my personal statement.

I need to save up money as there are a lot of placements in nursing and I want to have some funds behind me. I might not necessarily get a job in caring industry - will take anything I can get at this time when I finish 6th year.

Also I have struggled a lot for various reasons this year and I feel a year out might be of benefit rather than jumping straight into more studying.

Is this going to go against me??

I have the grades to get into the course so I need to sell myself on my personal statement & at interview - if I get one.

Describe any skills you have. Focus on yourself too and be honest as well.

Hiya!

I think you have it all under control to be honest and I wouldn't lie about it. I am doing my access course in 18 months to 2 years instead of 1 year (online) for the same reason, plus childcare, work etc! On my first draft of personal statement I did write about it and how I am juggling everything at the same time. A lot of people take a year off for exact same reasons as you do not worry, you are just being organised and prepared for any unpredict events
