Should sex toys be available to 16 year olds?

Currently the legal age for sex is 16. The legal age to buy sex toys is 18.

Are we not encouraging youngsters to go straight into it, without experimenting first?

Do you think they should be available to 16 year olds or do you think the legal age should be raised?

i never knew this, i find the idea of getting ID'd to buy a sex toy hilarious.
its like getting ID'd to buy condoms. i almost peed myself laughing at the cashier.

i dont think there should be a legal age to have sex anyway so :P
i think it should be illegal for anyone over the age of 20 to have sex with someone under 16, that's all.
If you can have sex at 16 then why shouldnt you be able to buy toys at 16?
I think that they should be available at 16.

I think it should be lowered to 16. Same goes for porn (that is buying it, not starring in it). It just makes no sense that you can do it, but you can't watch other people doing it.
I bought my toy when I was 16 lol.

You get IDed for buying condoms?? I had no idea... If I were a cashier, I'd just sell them. If they're underage, I'd much rather they had them than didn't. Heck, I'd even applaud them for being safe.
yes! it's ridiculous. at 16 a girl can put a penis in her va-jj and risk pregnancy and STI's yet can't ram up a piece of vibrating rubber which does no harm at all.
absolute ********.
though, you can always use the net to get stuff.

So you'd be happy for a 19-year-old to have sex with a 9-year-old?

I think they'd rather be IDed in the middle of the store than applauded. :p:
yeah, it's weird how you can have sex at 16 but not have toys or look at porn till you're 18. they should all have the same age limit. it's like it's saying people aren't mature enough about sex for toys and porn till 18.. so why can they do it 2 years younger?
I don't know, I think people need to get their heads around sex before they start experimenting with toys! I think 18 is about right.

Quite right!

But thank god for the self-service checkout
Yes, why not? It's never too early to explore your sexuality in a secure, private environment, as long as you're comfortable with it. If you're not, you're not going to buy sex toys.

as a 16 y/o i'd say HHHHHHHHELL NO

why should they be available to 16 year olds? it's appalling enough that 13 year olds have kids already - it's just promoting/encouraging more underage sex

EDIT: ^ Whyyyy. how does buying a sex toy promote underage sex...especially when the conversation here we're saying that you should be able to buy sex toys at 16. so it's not even underage.

There isn't an age limit on buying condoms so you shouldn't be IDd.

I also agree that you should be able to buy sex toys at 16, but it's not like it's difficult for under 18s to purchase them anyway...

Well the cashier only would have ID'd you to save their own derriere. "Just selling them" might not be a good idea - the cashier could potentially lose his/her job if caught, and the Government could impose a fine on the shop for not being cautious enough.
