Are there any UK agencies that are trustworthy. I’m doing my a levels and want to finish them but I’d love to start modelling. I’ve found a couple of agencies but I’m not sure how trustworthy they are. I don’t want to look at more reputable agencies (IMG, Wilhemina, Elite e.t.c.) until I’ve tried it out with a smaller agency first.

These are all reputable agencies - they represent the kind of models you see at London Fashion Week and on the Paris, Milan and New York catwalks.

https://www.models1.co.uk/

https://www.premiermodelmanagement.com/

https://www.selectmodel.com/

https://www.stormmanagement.com/

I wouldn't advise wasting your time with smaller agencies. The bookings any of the four agencies I have listed get for you will be better paid and better for your career as a model. They are also very responsible in how they look after the younger models and they make sure that any bookings they find for you fit in with your education.

If you have the look, there is work out there for you; the agency will know this as soon as they have met you.

Something all four of the agencies listed make clear to potential models is that there is absolutely no need for a model to pay money to create her own portfolio; they warn young models that a request for money for photographs is a sign that an agency should be avoided.

Really, if you are serious about modelling, you need to approach one of these four agencies. They will get you the top-notch bookings.

Ok, thank you x
So I’m Muslim and my parents are fairly conservative. Like they’re open to me modelling but I don’t think they’d be comfortable with me showing a lot of skin (even juts crop tops etc), and tbh I don’t think I would be either. Is that something that could be discussed with agencies when it comes to it or will I not have much say at all?
Also, what age would you say is best to start? And what type of modelling would you recommend starting with?

It's something you could discuss with your agency.

Best starting age is probably 15 - 20

You don't really choose your area of modelling. It's dictated by your height and look. You will probably be best suited to magazines/advertising.

Ahh Im Muslim too so I can imagine what that would be like as when I did some modelling it was with like chest open pics etc and with girls there. I mean there are many muslim models who are female now, two examples being Halima Aden and Mariah Idrissi. You can always try umma models if you are wary of showing too much off. I mean they do modelling with teens and adults so this is what I recommend

Thank you so much! I did look at ummah models but most of their models seemed to be hijabis and I don’t wear a hijab so wasn’t sure about it, but I’ll definitely look more into that
