It seems there is a new incident reported at Durham University every other week. Just this week there have been reports of bullying against those from the North (https://www.theguardian.com/educatio...ham-university) and now, LGBT students have been attacked in an online meeting (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-54648103).

Something needs to be done about this because what is currently in place clearly isn't working.

My gosh, Durham again? Just when I had tried to convince myself I could still go... My gay, northern, poverty-stricken self will not survive.

Unfortunately I don't think it is a Durham thing, there has just been a lot more attention on it because the uproar over the events that led to a chain reaction of exposing toxic cultures:

You should still go, the only way change will come is by people going there and creating it. Plus the toxic attitudes are everywhere, might as well go somewhere with a nice view while you have to hear that stuff.

Hope this helped.
