Ignore econ it’s not even a prerequisite for IB
The issue is OP said they want to get into IB

To get into IB your best odds are with LSE and/or Oxbridge

yep your right, it doesn't matter about the degree you do
Engineers are also very popular when converting to IB
Their course is also shorter than dentistry , might want to look into it

hey I was in the same position as you but mine was medicine or economics. As someone said on TSR if your deciding to do medicine or any other career/degree, choose that other career/degree. Also, someone has said that you can use the dentistry degree to get into IB. This is true but your going to be spending 2 more years, just so that you can have the option to do either dentistry or finance.... I am currently in year 13 and have applied to semi-target universities for economics, such as Durham, Manchester and St Andrews. Also, you have said that you are in year 13, so you cant apply to dentistry anymore as the 15th October deadline has passed.

Nah basically I have already applied to dentistry already and put warwick as 5th option. Like Im really interested in economics but like my parents are always on me about how there's not that much jobs available and how there's so many graduates so it'll be really competitive. Like I'm thinking what if I don't get a job with economics whereas with dentistry its a clear path ( a bit of a boring path tho)

Mate, honestly you’re way over thinking this. You’re not even going to be joining the job market for at least another 4 years, so much can change in that time such as the availability of jobs so no point comparing to the market atm. Your idea of what you want to do will change so much in that time and may come a full circle to where you are now but that’s not guaranteed. Just do what you think you’ll do well in, get the degree and then focus on what you want to do as a career in your third year. There are so many avenues you can go down with an economics degree I wouldn’t even worry about job security and working hours.

im deeping this way too much ahaha like the thing is I don't want to end up with regrets in the future so I'm tryna think of the best option but I keep bouncing back and forth.
Also will going to LSE or oxbridge for econ significantly increase chances compared to going warwick cause if so ill just take a gap year and apply to those.

do you think you can get an offer for economics from warwick? how did you lay out your personal statement for both dentistry and economics?

Warwick is seriously regarded by the city, and is a proper target uni - lse significantly increasing your chances, no.

personally I always had medicine in mind, however I just felt like it wasn't for me anymore. also, I looked at my priorities and what I wanted from a job. One of the main thing is money, I know that your not supposed to go for a career for money but yh. I also started reading economic books such as Freakonomics and Wordly Philosophers, and I became really interested in it. Also, through my Human Geography A-Level course, which is somewhat related to Economics

oh thats really good then like for me moneys a big aspect as well like with medicine and dentistry there's always a limit for how much you can earn but with economics it all depends on you

Also I'm tryna find a good book to read on economics which one would you recommend. Thanks

exactly bro, like I want to earn as much as I can without having any limits. I get the job security bit sometimes but in general, im going to have earned a lot from investment banking already, and if I was let go, I would have investments and money to keep me going. Coming from a middle class background, I just want to earn enough to get myself up there.

A book would be Freakonomics and 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad'. Rich Dad Poor Dad just showcases how different financial mindsets allow you to gain wealth but a really good read.
