I’m a current FY3, not in training and working as a locum in hospitals. When it came to renewing my MDU membership they wrote to me assuming I was going to be an ST1 and so I used a form on their website to inform them that my work circumstances would actually be non-training, working as a locum in hospital. Can’t remember if I specified speciality at that stage.
Since August been working ~25 hours a week in medicine and picked up the odd on-call shift in obs and gynae after a consultant offered me some work (only 6 shifts across past 2 months). Just randomly checked my MDU membership and realised it only specifies general internal medicine.
I am going to contact them on Monday to explain what’s happened and see if can update my cover accordingly. It was an oversight on my part having done various specialities in FY2 and been covered for them. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen? Never had to call them before so a bit scared!

I think you can only specify one specialty on your form. I'm a Med Reg so I queried it with them before, cos I have my specialty and also GIM. They said they could update my records to include both specialties, but that the official form would only list one (or something like that, I can't really remember).

Definitely worth phoning/emailing them about this though, to ensure their records are as accurate as possible.

Stumbled on this post and checked my membership form, turns out I had the same thing happen.
I rang them few weeks ago and told them I'd be doing locums in various specialities (my membership only starts in a month as I am taking a break) but my membership only specifies General Internal Medicine too.
Did you get in contact with them/ hear anything back?
