I returned to London from overseas and have been staying at home due to Covid. Am trying to understand the educational system in the UK. For the subject of maths, can I sit both GCES maths foundation & higher, or I can only do one of the tiers?

No, you can't take both at the same sitting.

5 is the highest grade for foundation and 9 for higher.
