It is because Ca(OH)2 is a base

Ca(OH)2 will liberate ammonia from ammonium salt so 1 is true

Ca(OH)2 will react with H+ (recall that liming is used to control pH of soil, so it's true)

3 is true because of basic nature of Ca(OH)2

But how does this happen at the soil? Where does the CO2 come from

The lime is on land so it reacts with CO2 from the air
