the line L has equation y=2x + 8
the line L crosses the x-axis at the point A
the line M is perpendicular to line L and passes through the point A

a) find the coordinates of point A
b) find the equation of line M

so i understand that line M would have y = -1/2x + c but have no idea how to find point A

Y=0 when it crosses the x axis.

if A crosses the x-axis then it’s y co-ordinate would be 0, so the find A’s x co-ordinate you sub 0 into y —> 0=2x +8, x=-4, so A is the point (-4,0)
