hey. just quick question. my friend needs to remove 6 years old American akita. he claims the dog is very friendly and won't never hurt the children. I went yesterday to see the dog and looks like she is really calm..ive got 3 kids( 9, 9, and 17). just wanted to ask if anyone had met or had that dog before and of rehoming is safe for my kids too as I dont want accidents later on..
thanks

With children under 10 I would want to know a lot more about why they are rehoming the dog. Akitas are beautiful but very powerful. Has it been brought up around children - who do random things, drop food and expect to pick it up, make high pitched squeals that can confuse dogs.
Do you have experience with large dogs? Do you have the time for a large dog - they don't all like other dogs so may need to always be on lead so you need to walk however much exercise they need. Some are escape artists - is your garden secure?
Do you have the space?
