SOIT and the Modularised Initial Officer Training

Hello,Does anyone have any info on what the SOIT programme looks like now? I know that you complete an accelerated course in 6 weeks if your're already serving but how does this actually work?

If you're already serving then from what I understand of the course it depends on what you're serving as.
The higher up the NCO levels, the shorter the course.

When it was first mooted, the idea was that an airman would do terms 2, 3 and 4, skipping term 1 because that's essentially what they've already done at Halton. But a FS would only be asked to do term 4.

They may have refined that since the courses got underway.

Hi,

The SOIT is the specialist course for nurses, doctors etc so it has a slightly different format. I have heard we essentially 'bunny hop' through the entire course , where as I assumed we just did the last 6 weeks but it doesnt seem as if anyone is really all that clear. Perhaps I need to contact RAFC directly.

Yes, the old SERE course was a bespoke 12 week thing that dipped in and out of the main course.

When you mentioned already serving that's what mixed the two up for me, because that's a different thing - albeit with a small crossover for some trades. Makes it nice and easy to keep up with

If you're already serving and then going on the specialist course then you'll need to double check what you're doing, the old SERE was designed for professionally qualified people starting from scratch, so it's outside the normal remit.

Well im glad im not the only one confused by it. Just to clarify, I am serving and I will 'hopefully' go onto SOIT. It might actually be that the first SOIT hasn't been run yet or that its possibly currently ongoing with the first intake. I'll get a contact at RAFC Cranwell and pose the question. Thanks.
