I want to do A Level Biology and Environmental Science.
I know that I want to do either Chemistry or Maths with this.
I also want to take french as a 4th a level.

I am predicted grade 6/7 in Chemistry and Grade 5/6 in maths.
Shall I take chemistry or maths?
Is taking French and a 4th a level going to be too much?

I would say Chemistry since you’re better at it and it can help with a level biology. Also I wouldn’t recommend doigm 4 as it’s a lot of work and not really needed to get into uni, most people who took 4 in my school ended up dropping one

Hey slightlyinsane!

I would say take chemistry and french with biology and don't worry about a 4th A-level
Most unis only offer based on 3 A-levels so a 4th one is unnecessary and will put a lot of pressure on yourself!

I hope this helps!

I'd personally go for chemistry as it has some crossover with biology so can help with understanding, and you'll do some maths in chem which will be more similar to the sort of maths you'd need. I think a-level maths is generally overkill for enviro science and bio even at undergrad level, i never had to use a-level maths stuff at uni (biology with enviro science).

As for whether the fourth a-level will be too much is down to you, whether you're naturally good at the subjects already and dedicated enough to keep up with the workload. If you're set on learning french and feel you can do it (especially if you're already at a decent level) then give it a go. Can always drop down to 3 a-levels after the first year.
