Can I choose to become any type of lawyer to become a barrister or do I have to become a certain type of lawyer for example a corporate lawyer to be a barrister?

Any, but it will be heavily influenced by where you manage to do your pupillage.

How do you know you want to be a Barrister if you don't even know what a pupillage is? Not trying to be mean or anything, but I highly doubt you know what being a barrister or a solicitor involves which is a serious red flag in terms of whether this career is for you.

It's like me saying I want to be an Acoustic Consultant. No idea what it is but sounds cool.
