Well, it's more than I spend on takeaways which is £0. But, if you can afford it does it really matter?

Dunno, what does £20 really get you these days? 1 decent or maybe 2 small takeaway meals?

In comparison to me yes, but I knew people who spent more than that. Depends on expenditure compared to income and what you're willing to spend on takeaways. If you're not on a salary of 35k+ net I'd think of better things for the money unless you use it social use etc.

Yeah it is imo, you can make a pizza or buy a nice one from the supermarket and buy roast chicken.

But a base and then put your own toppings on?
You can even do it with bread or pitas or wraps you just put it on the grill!

Yes, someone like myself who struggles to make ends meet and doesn't have decent salary or property etc does not spend £20 a week. You're less likely to get a mortgage also so I personally wouldn't spend £1000 a year on takeaways. It depends on financial security and preference. I personally couldn't on 20k and if you want a car / mortgage then I say only at 35k net would be worth it for me.

You don't just do that, that's like saying to make an entire cake you just put flour and sugar in a bowl and then heat it up

Wouldn't fault anyone for saving up and having a takeaway as an occasional treat or on a special occasion. .. You're going to burn through a lot of money having one every week..
£20 a week is roughly £80 per month or £1000 per year which you could probably do something more enjoyable or worthwhile with that money than guzzling 50 greasy curries.

If it gives you something to work harder for and look forward to , then what is the issue ? Making fresh meals every day will cost a lot just from the quality of ingredients but the time spent cooking and cleaning it all is the real loss here.

She's actually right. You just mix flour, water, sugar, yeast, oil and salt together, let it rise and then knead.
You can get more complicated but that's the basics.
