'It’s pretty obvious that cats haven’t really moved on from the sort of treatment they received in the time of Pharaoh.'

Wow this is a pretty tough question and I really don't know if I understand it, but my guess would be that, because the writer has said that it's 'pretty obvious', they now have to specify what makes it so obvious, because other readers might not necessarily think that this is the case. It's almost like the writer has to persuade the reader, in a sense.

I really hope this is right, sorry haha!
