So once you’ve expanded out and simplified, the y-intercept is the bit that doesn’t have any x’s or y’s in it - then set that bit equal to 6.5 to find a

For example in y=5x-8 , the y-intercept is -8 (when x=0, the value of y is -8)
Another example: y=4x+b-3 <- here the y intercept is b-3 as when x=0, y=b-3
