As the question implies, what are the easiest language techniques to use for narrative and descriptive writing that give you a lot of marks?

I'd say try not to make it too forced, but maybe for language:
- alliteration
- metaphor/simile
- hyperbole
- personification
- repetition
these might fit differently into narrative and descriptive writing, but hopefully a good start.
