Personal Statement formatting

hey everyone!

Does anyone know how to format a word document so that it meets the UCAS personal statement page?

The reason being is I am under the charecter limit but above the line limit, so I am trying to modify it so that I get under the line limit without taking too much out!

Any help would be appreciated

thanks

you cant modify it at all cos the ucas stuff doesnt allow you. i think all you can do is just copy and paste it to the personal statement section. if you've got too many lines then you're just gonna have to take some out im afraid :frown:
You have to submit it in a textbox on the UCAS website so fonts etc are irrelevant.
(assuming you are applying online?)

thats exactly the same problem I am struggeling with!

thats why i wanted to know how i can format it in word so that it's a more accurate view :s-smilie:
I have found that 12 point Times New Roman with 3cm left and right margins gives a good approximation to the UCAS page.

- type a load of rubbish or whatever text you want into the ucas personal statement box until 47 lines are used.

- click "save" (this can always be altered and ucas won't see it yet, don't worry!!) and go to the "view all details" option on the left hand nav-bar

- locate the personal statement/random text/47 lines of words...

- copy and paste this text straight into word, and hey, presto! you should have nice formatted text, so you can now alter the borders or margins or whatever so that they fit the text in front of you.

Just worked out you can just click 'preview' to see your ps with line numbers at the side.

*claps* :P
lol, go on "view all" and you can see it without line numbers, but as UCAS will see it - pretty useful when thinking about format
lol why don't you just copy and paste it into UCAS every now and then to check :s-smilie:

I know that I wasn’t the OP, but this is really helpful so thank you
Simple - cut and paste it into the PS section on your UCAS application, and Save.
It'll tell you if you are over the limit.
You can still edit it. It does not go anywhere until you pay-and-submit.
