I know Scottish unis use widening participation flags into consideration for entry requirements and conditional offers and there are schemes out there like Glasgow REACH programme , top up programme, sutton trust schools partnership etc.
they take into account your postcode, school, parent's academic history = first gen into uni, POLAR4 decile thing
