NHS Scotland Pay Circular.

OK this is not the usual what does banding mean question.

I was looking over the new pay circular and am slightly confused by some of the wording/layout.

"Minimum rate where there is no scale" Which jobs have no scale?

Why are there 3 rates for FY1 - is that if you end up sitting FY1 three times?!?

If I do ACCS training and therefore a CT3 year, but then move to specialist training as a ST3 do I stay on the same increment point or do I keep moving up the increments.

Also, as a side note. Why is none of this taught at med school? Even as an optional lecture. We get a quick glance at the career progression graph from FY1 to Consultant. But nothing about Pay/Interpreting Payslips/Pensions etc.
