EXPLAIN HOW HITLER CHANGED THE DAP FROM 1920-23 (12)

Hitler changed the DAP massively during the years of 1920-23. He created a new name for both himself and the party, which led on to become the extremist party, the Nazis.

One reason how Hitler changed the DAP was improving his publicity in order for the whole nation to see. Hitler had many strengths, and one major strength that he acquired was the fact that he was a powerful and persuasive public speaker. He made frequent speeches to the country, stating his new ideas and ways to make Germany strong again, which convinced millions of Germans that Hitler was the leader to vote for. The fact that his speeches were influential and dominating, attracted lots more supporters to listen and engage with his ideologies. From then, over 55,000 new members joined the DAP, resulting in Hitler’s power and control to increase throughout Germany. This led to significant improvements within the DAP, with their own newspaper, ‘The People’s Observer’ publishing in the 1920s.

Additionally, Hitler had created several new ideas which benefitted the DAP and contributed to its succession within Germany and beyond. Hitler co-created the ‘25 Point Programme’ with Anton Drexler in 1920. This new phenomenon was a 25-point list of both Hitler and Drexler’s ‘perfect Germany.’ The programme was based around the ideas of Nationalism and Socialism and also brought in anti-Semitic ideas into their policies. The programme became largely popular with nationalists, fascists, farmers and lower-upper class citizens. This is because most of these groups were extremely worried about the threat of the Communists, meaning that this new party was the safest option. The plan included the attempts to get rid of the hated Treaty of Versailles and the facts that only people with ‘German blood’ could be citizens, writers and editors. All of these plans helped to enlarge the strength of the DAP and make it more popular within Germany.

Lastly, a third reason how Hitler had changed the DAP was the way he created a new identity for it. Since becoming the elected leader in 1921, Hitler made many new changes for the DAP which in hope would support and strengthen the party. In 1920, Hitler changed the name of the German Workers Party (DAP) to the NSDAP (Nationalist Socialist German Workers Party. Hitler introduced the Nazi salute and adopted the Swastika sign as their official flag, which was an eye-catching logo, which successfully got more Germans to vote for them. Both of these factors caused popularity towards the party and led to more Germans leaning towards the party. Subsequently, Hitler set up the violent SA to protect meetings and to attack opponents when necessary and introduced ‘Fuhrerprinzip’ which meant absolute obedience and loyalty to the leader. This resulted in Hitler to become more authoritative.

Hello

Basically you need to reread that again. Either summarise it or highlight any important information that you need. Also avoid repeating yourself. Make a list of reasons prior to starting your task. Then carefully and slowly elaborate on each one. Give examples and real life facts too. You may also want to research this topic online for more information. Put all information that you happen to find into your own words however. Jot down some notes based on that. Best of luck.
