What is the best way to break up with someone?

So I've been dating my friend for almost 4 months now and I want to break up with him. He's still madly in love, but I can't deal with him or this long distance. He's not the best boyfriend tbh, he lies to me, doesn't care about my mental health, only cares about himself etc etc so I don't want to be too nice when breaking up. Any tips?

Ghosting by cutting off all contact and don't talk to him again.

I have told him that I was feeling that our relationship was starting to worsen and he said he would change, he promised he would but he just ended up getting worse, talking to people he didnt talk to before, making constant excuses to why he ignores my messages etc.. I cant deal with it. Thanks for your reply by the way
