Well even though my app may have been late they seem to be considering it, got an email today saying that they'll let me know by next monday, although as I've had no previous contact with them before I have an idea what the answer will be, but we'll see!

Could be the usual "nutter check". Merely making sure that they're actually capable of doing the job. Albeit, 150 words is a tough way to make a decision on a candidate, regardless of their CV.
