Which sampling technique to use for research

Doing a research project and my participants will be people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, recruited through organisations that support them/AA/NA etc. - what sampling technique is this going to use? Do i need to get a certain amount of male/female to make it very generalisable, or do I just go convenience/availability/opportunity as it is going to be hard enough to get participants for this (due to sensitive nature) anyway?

I’d just say use opportunity sampling. You can always work it out as a percentage of Male and female at the end anyway.
Opportunity sampling is your best bet.
This would be pretty much impossible to generalise as it's such a hard group to reach, as the other user said opportunity sampling would likely work best. You may be able to pick out differences between male and female participants at the end of the project.
