What? The year abroad is what i look forward to most! How can you learn a foreign language without wanting to spend time in a country where it is spoken? Whats the point?

To answer your quesiton though, i think Erasmus is optional
Why is the year abroad putting you off? Just wondering. It put me off for ages too but I'm gonna go and do it  Umm unis usually say only in exceptional circumstances can you not do the year abroad.
Would it not be a major disadvantage not to do the year abroad.
I'm sure there's probably SOMEWHERE you could do it i guess but what's the point in doing a language for a degree and not doing it!
I was like that approx one year ago...but i got over it. And am applying to a modern languages degree this year.
Well, I think you're crazy...but I'm pretty sure UCL offer a course without a year abroad. And there are a few other places that do the same...try a google search
You don't have to do the year abroad if you don't want to. I'm not doing the year abroad and I'm doing fine with my studies.

This thread is over a year old.
Yes I know, I just thought I'd let someone know that they don't need to worry!
