when do we actually get our student loan?

Does anyone know when student loans are actually paid into our bank accounts?
On the student finance website it says that I will get it on the 22nd sept and when I rang them they said I would probably get it then but nothing definate.
Also, I know that sometimes it can take a couple of days for it to show.
Im getting worried coz they havent sorted my childcare grant out (even tho I sent the forms off 2months ago) and I need to pay the fees using my student loan.
They said they would only pay it once my course starts but I cant really go and register, induction etc if I havent got the childcare.

The money will be paid into your account on the 22nd of sept and you'll get your next payment towards the beginning of next term and your one after that sometime around april. It varies every year. It can take up to three working days for the money to clear in your account, but you'll be able to check with your bank to make sure that you definitely get your money.

i noticed the first payment usually takes up to 3 days after you get the notification scanned and the second and 3rd come on the date specified in the notification

also, do we have to actually set up to pay the accomadation and tuition fees from our bank account or do they take it via the student loans company?

Tuition fees you don't actually see as they get paid straight to the university, they don't ever enter your bank account.

The maintenance loan/grant will be paid into your bank account and its up to you to arrange the money getting paid for your accommodation. Different unis will have different payment methods so you will need to find out from them.
My first installment went in on the 15th......

to get student loan, you must enrol, hand over the correct paperwork, then 3 WORKING DAYS later it goes into your bank account.

I just rang the student finance direct people and they said that my payment has been submitted to the bank and to ring them and see when it will be going in. When I rang the bank they said it hasnt been submitted. I always get one person saying one thing and another saying something different.

I think the banks can only see things which are going in the next day. Once it has been submitted by the SLC it takes 3 working days. So it should be Monday (or if you are with Natwest you should be able to see it Saturday) or Tuesday that you get it.
I'm sure if you explained to your childcare provider the situation that you need to have the paperwork scanned on enrolement day before they submit your payment to your account they will be understanding about it. Im in a similar situation but thankfully my mums just lending me abit to cover the childcare costs incase my payment is delayed! Have you got anyone who may be able to lend you a small amount it until you get the funds and can pay them back?
Mine should arrive on 22 Sept, same as you op. The bursary comes in Oct, which I totally forgot about. What a nice surprise when they wrote to me confirming that!

Also, I planned on quitting work next week but a couple of weeks ago I got told i'd be made redundant (because of my hours and company structure change blah blah). So now it looks like I'll be getting about £1100 pay off on top of my wage. Woo hoo! Perfect timing
When do they start coming in for this academic year does anyone know?
It will depend on when you start uni. Usually, if all goes well, it's on your first day of lectures - assuming you successfully registered during freshers week.

No you can only have it in 3 installments. The SLC won't change payment plans as they agreed with each university.
It's in students best interests if they have it in instalments to prevent them being irresponsible and spending it all at once

Well i'm in exactly the same boat as you! So i was going to do the same and use the student loan money to pay the childcare. The expected payment date for me is the 17th Sept, which is tomorrow so i will let you know if it does go in on the expected date or if its late. I hope it does though because its my first day tomorrow and the nursery want paying!
