Geography has always been one of my favourite subjects but I much prefer the physical side to the human.
So instead of taking geography should I take physical geography or will this limit me when looking for jobs?
I can’t decide between environmental science and geography, could someone go through the differences between both and which one is a more respected course.
I was also thinking about marine biology but I’ve heard it’s really competitive when looking for jobs.

I personally recommend picking the course that sounds most interesting to you, and that you would enjoy the most.

You can always specialise in a masters, etc. The only benefit it would provide is that, of course, you would have a more in-depth learning of physical geography, otherwise, you will still learn the basics!

Not quite the same, but my flat mate studied Psychology and has ended up with a job in accounting. Whatever you choose, it won't shut doors!

Do you have a job you would eventually like to go into?

Hi, I'm in the exact same position as you, stuck between Geography and Environmental Science!
Perhaps environmental geography as this has both human and physical aspects? Not sure how many unis offer that but could be worth looking into

I do like some human aspects of Geography (uneven development, food security etc) but think I'm more drawn to Environmental Science. I'm just worried this might be a bit limiting in terms of career prospects as its quite specialist and more science-y.

I'm currently doing geog, biology and english lit, wbu?

Hi, I’ve looked at some environmental geography courses and it does sound really good so it might be an option, but i think I might go for geography and do a more flexible course that allows you to chose the areas you want to study. I really like the look of environmental science too and I prefer the science side over the human, even though I enjoy both, but I’m worried that it will limit me because at least with geography is quite broad so I could go on to do a bigger range of things.
I’m doing geography, biology and psychology.

Hey! We’re studying the same subjects eng lit, biology and geog! I also have a deep fascination with the environmental science courses! I just sent my application a week ago. Have you any ideas where you’ll be applying to?

Hi! Haven't sent my application off yet, still not too sure of my choices. I'm looking at Leeds, Newcastle, Southampton and then Liverpool/Notts/Sheffield and a lower one. I'm really indecisive lol
