Suggest some good *materials/chemistry* books for interview

Greetings,

Well, turns out I got an interview, and my interviewers are from the materials science and chem depts. I have a feeling my questions will be geared more towards physical/materials chem.........

Please suggest some introductory books on materials science (other than the reading list), that'll help me at least not sound oblivious when they ask something.

My intended specialization is Chemistry, so I should be fine with it. Have been reading Atkins' Physical Chemistry during the lockdown.

Scared of interviews :frown:
Don't be scared of interviews - they are a good chance for you to find out if you like the teaching style and hopefully show off a bit of your knowledge.

"The New Science of Strong Materials: Or Why You Don't Fall Through the Floor" (Penguin Science) by JE Gordon is a very readable intro to Materials Science and will get you thinking in the right way.
"Stuff Matters" by Miodownik is also good, and a bit more modern in style.
