As the title asks, I'm a student looking for something that will last me a long time.

I could possibly stretch to the 16gb Macbook if it makes a big difference.

I have also been looking at:

Surface laptop 13.3" i5,

Surface laptop 15" AMD 5,

Hp Envy i7 8gb,

Hp Envy i7 16gb,

Dell XPS 13 7390,

ASUS Zenbook 14, AMD 7,

ASUS Zenbook 13.3" i7

You really don't need a flash laptop for university, apparently even computer science students don't do anything that requires heavy machinery.

I survived a biomedical science course with 4GB RAM and an AMD 3 processor laptop - cost around £350. I'd say one of the most important factors is portability for loving between study spaces, library, cafes and home (post-rona of course). 14" screen is plenty big enough for watching movies on and if it weighs that 1.5kg you're golden!
