You have been asked by a local Gp to calculate the dose of oramorph liquid (morphine sulfate, 10mg/5ml). PO for a patient in palliative care, to be used for breakthrough pain. The patient takes oxycodone M/R 10mg bd PO for prophylactic pain management. The GP requires the dose for breakthrough pain to be one fifth of the patients daily dose of oxycodone. Note: 6.6mg of oxycodone PO is equivalent to 10mg of morphine sulphate PO. What will be the dose of oramorph Liquid for breakthrough pain? Would appreciate if someone can explain this question and how to work it out
