How can you determine the structure of a compound or molecule A level chemistry btw like if they say what’s the structure of SiO2 how do you know what it is?

The structure will be either "giant" or "simple".

If it is ionic or metallic, it is giant.

If it is covalent it is simple - unless the physical properties tell you otherwise, i.e. high melting point etc. and/or your spec. has a list of giant covalents - Si, SiO2, diamond, graphite and/or graphene are often listed.
