So i've had a major brain fart and have no clue how to go about this question.

Part a) I think that I need to find the stoichiometric coefficient for O2 and then divide that by 21 and multiply by 100 to find the theoretical air.

So I went about making an equation for the complete combustion of the gas and ended up with 53 as the coefficient and therefore 252kmol but this is way off.

For the combustion equations:

CH_4 + 2O_2 \to CO_2 + 2H_2O

C_2H_4 + 3O_2 \to 2CO_2 + 2H_2O

C_3H_8 + 5O_2 \to 3CO_2 + 4H_2O

\text{Number of moles of methane present in 1kmol of gas }=1000 \times 0.4 = 400

\text{Number of moles of ethene present in 1kmol of gas }=1000 \times 0.24 = 240

\text{Number of moles of propane present in 1kmol of gas }=1000 \times 0.16 = 160

 \text{Number of moles of oxygen needed }= 400 \times 2 + 240 \times 3 + 160 \times 5=2320

You can work out the number of kmols of air from here.
