Hi there, wondering if anyone here has applied for the HMRC Tax Specialist programme for the coming year? Thought I'd make a thread as I couldn't see one floating about.

Hi guys, I applied for the tax specialist programme September 2021 start.
Did my final three tests before the interview selections, however, got an email stating the below;
“Although you met the minimum standard for the civil service verbal test, the civil service numerical test and civil service work strengths test we have had to raise the scores on the numerical reasoning test to the 45th percentile and 97th percentile on the civil service works strengths test. These pass marks have been set in accordance with the Civil Service Recruitment Principles and without an adverse impact to protected groups as defined in the Equality Act 2010”
I got 87% for verbal, 92% for Numerical and 93% for strength based test.
Did i fail the tests because they decided to increase the pass mark to 97th percentile on strength based?
Very upset :-(
Tho, I have been offered a role as a work coach with DWP. But really wanted to progress with HMRC as a Tax specialist. (I love numbers lol)

Did you get offered the role of DWP after this application or was that a separate application? It seems like 97th percentile is needed to go through unless you are disabled or in the protected groups even then those people seemed to have scored in the 90's.
It seems like you are though here is the main thread btw

Thanks for the relevant link.
The role of DWP was a separate application. 😎
