Is it bad as a 17 year old I would genuinely have sex with someone in their 20's?

I know it's wrong but guys my age just don't appeal to me and are so unattractive imo. Like srsly I know all teen girls fantasise about having sex with a celebrity who may be alot older but I actually WOULD do it if they asked.

Nah, once you’re over 16 you can bang anyone you want. Nothing wrong with going for someone a little older if that’s what you’re in to

I don't believe there's anything wrong with that.
As long as every party involved consents. If you are worried what other people think, it isn't any of their business to know. Although people would find it weird if there was a large age gap like 10 years between you.

I don't think this is true. It's only illegal if they are in a position of trust (teachers, tutors etc.). A 16 year old or older can legally have sex with anyone of any age (16 or older obviously).

this is where i get confused. 16 is the age of consent, but the age an individual becomes an adult in the eyes of the law/society is 18. so a 16/17 year old is technically not an adult. its always been weird to me that the age of consent is younger than the age of becoming an adult.

Agreed. I don't doubt that this is very weird and a peculiar part of the law (I would make the age of consent 18 too if it were up to me). Sort of in the same way that any nude photos of someone 16-17 years old would be considered child pornography, yet they can have sex with them.

there's nothing wrong with it. 3 years is a small gap if both people are of the age of consent

There's nothing wrong with being attracted to older guys. So long as the relationship is healthy, a 3 year age gap is honestly nothing. So long as you two are on the same wavelength mentally, it's probably fine. Especially when you get older and go out into the working world where society isn't strictly divided by age.

You're asking about having sex and defining a potential partner by age.

Why not wait until you find someone who cares for and respects you, and have sex in a mutually comfortable situation?

Honestly this topic has been discussed so many times it’s ridiculous. The law states “legal consent” can happen after a guy or girl turns 16 so legally it is legal to have sex with a person of that age - however as the person is under 18 they have a “unbalanced” position within the law - in the case the person is not a full adult. It’s advised to be careful.

In terms of a relationship - nothing is illegal about it. However be cautious with anything more.

I wish I knew, still such ignorance ensures that barristers and solicitors will always have money in their pocket.
