I'm not sure if i've posted this in the right forum, but anyway: if you're not taking a TV to uni, and are just planning on watching dvds on your laptop, do you still need a TV licence? and what about bbc iplayer, does that count? Thanks

you don't need one for watching DVDs on your laptop. you also don't need one for iplayer as you're not watching them as they're shown live. if you were to get a TV stick for your laptop and watch TV 'as its aired' then you would need one but otherwise no.

You don't need a TV licence if you're not going to watch live TV shows through a TV. Internet players, DVDs and Game Consoles are fine
