    What is the percentage by mass of tin in tin(IV) chloride, SnCl4

    what steps would you take to work this out

    Find out the Ar of tin then the Mr of the tin (IV) chloride. So you can then work out how much of the tin is in the chloride in terms of a fraction - then convert to %

    There's an easy formula for this:

    Percentage by mass = mass of solute / mass of solution x 100%

    Was the question after it.

    2 Mol of a compounf has a mass of 117.0g. What is it's relative molecular mass ?
