# AS Further Maths watch

1. Hi, I'm on gap year and I want to keep learning so I thought about taking up AS further maths. What modules does it consist of. Ive alredy done c1-c3, s1 and m1. Seeing as there is only fp1-3 is the AS fp1 and then s2 and m2 or do I have to do study fp1 and fp2 then s2/m2?

Thanks
2. AS Further maths is basically fp1 and two applied modules e.g. s2, m1, d1. A2 Further maths is fp1,fp2 and 4 modules of either fp3, fp4 and the rest applied or all four applied. My friend has the full a level in further maths so he basically done fp1, fp2, m1, m2, m3 and d1. I have only As so I done fp1, m1 and d1.

Different boards, different modules.

AQA have it, Edex don't. Can't remember what OCR and that have.
5. First of all, you should do C4..
6. FP2 is an A2 module on most exam boards (not sure about AQA, since theirs go up to FP4). If you liked stats, you could do FP1 S2 S3, if you liked mechanics you could do FP1 M2 M3, or you could do FP1 S2 M2, or if you want to try something new you could take one or two of the Decision modules.

Apparently before the new syllabus change, you couldn't do FP1 without doing C3 and C4, but now that they've changed FP1 you can. But i would say do C4 first as well.

I realise that, I just meant that he won't get the full Maths A-level unless he does C4.

nah we did FP1 before C1 was even completed, which explains why nobody got a C and above.

wasn't there a C5 as well?

no. b4 the year 2000, it was p1-p6 and you got an a level in pure maths but now they just split it into c1-c4 (compulsary modules) an fp1 and fp2 (optional modules). so now you can either do c1-c4 and fp1 and fp2 which will get you an a level in pure maths or you can do c1-c4 and two applied modules which will get you an a level in maths. Note that if you do an a level course in pure maths you cannot do further maths as some of the modules for further maths overlap with pure maths if that makes sense.
11. My mistake ive dun c4 Ive got an A grade in Maths.
