Good idea finding new apprenticeship or going uni?

I’m currently doing an accounting apprenticeship with a firm studying AAT level 3 and working as an accounts assistant.

I’m enjoying the studying side of the apprenticeship and have done well with the tests, however, the work side I feel like I’m not gaining as much experience as I could with others firms and not gaining much knowledge.

I was wondering is it a good idea to look for AAT level 4 apprenticeships which could lead me on to ACA, ACCA or CIMA?
My current firm does this but we are not given different jobs after we complete the level 3 qualification and the work format is not structured in the way that we move up after we completed a qualification like other firms are (also quite unorganised and things are not done properly).

I was also considering university aswell as if I did an accounting and finance degree, I could still be accredited for some of the exams in the professional qualification. The problem is finding jobs afterwards as Im short on a-levels (CCC). I’d go uni if I couldn’t find an apprenticeship elsewhere.

If I’m unsuccessful at both of the above, I’d guess I’d have to stay at my firm but I’m not keen on doing this to be honest. Just wanted to know if this is a realistic and good idea? Any advice I would greatly appreciate
