you'd be lucky to find someone doing that course on here...

If its still the same as when i did it , i thought the course was okay. Theres alot too remember but thats psychology for you i guess. I did feel that if you can make your essays flow well then youve got a good chance. In my A2 exam i got an A and i think that is down to me knowing how to write and get straight to the point rather then waffle, whereas in AS i got a C for PSY1 and a D for PSY2.

Any more questions and i'd be happy to help.

Thanks for that. I dont have any problems so far . I have only had five lessons.

Our new teacher said she was changing because she considered the content of the course to be more straightforward and more manageable in the time we have ( her words but most people took that to mean easier).

I have looked at both the AQA and the WJEC boards web sites. It looks to me as though AQA A is all biology whilst WJEC is psychology as I had hoped it would be and as it seems to be in most books. It does look as if AQA was much harder in that there was a lot more stuff to learn but it was all on one or two topics where this board seem to require that you do more topics.

I have no problems remembering things so I hope it will be OK.

So far we have done Freud assumptions, theory and therapy and evaluation of the theory and therapy and started the biological approach assumptions and theory ( Selye and stress).

She gave us an essay on describing the main assumptions of the psychodynamic approach which seemed straightforward and I got 10 /12 for it.

Hii, i'm doing WJEC A2 psychology and would appreciate if anyone could help me out in listing all the essays that could possible come up so i know which i haven't got, thanks!
and it would also be greatly appreciated if anyone could post any essay plans or anything?? ta x
I take it you mean the current A2 and not next years?

The possible questions will all be either describe and evaluate or critically asses.....

the areas depend on those you will have studied - so if you have done awareness for example the question will be on either sleep ( theories) dreaming( theories) disorders of sleep, hypnosis ( theories of) .

Unless I know the areas you studied I cannot be more specific.

On the controversies question , again it will be describe and evaluate or critically asses but the question will be any two from the following five areas:

Ethics of human research
use of none human animals in research
cultural bias in research
gender bias in research

biology/ genetics issues in research

Hello,

I've started WJEC AS Psychology too. The reason my tutors provided was that its much easier than the other boards because the questions are predicatable and there is a same pattern every year. no trick questions!

I'm doing A2 level WJEC Psychology. It is a really good course, I managed to get an A last year. I was going to put some notes up on a site or something to help others out, but I'm not sure if it's a very popular college course.

For the first exam (PY1) you'll get asked questions on the four main approaches to Psychology: Biological, Cognitive, Behaviourist and Psychodynamic.

It is a lot to remember, but once you have the information down and have a good essay structure going you will do really well.

For the second exam (PY2) you'll be asked about ten core studies you will have studied in depth, as well as research methods.

At A2 there is another two exams, PY3 and PY4. PY3 is purely research methods, and PY4 focuses on topics (e.g. Memory), controversies (e.g. Gender and Culture bias) and applications (e.g. Depression and Schizophrenia).

Is anyone else doing the WJEC board for AS psychology this year?

Has anyone done WJEC Psychology?

What is it like? We got a new teacher this week and she has changed the board from AQA A to WJEC.

I have just taken the WJEC AS Psychology PY1 exam...did you take the exam? If so would really like to know how you got on...
The start of this thread was a couple of years ago.

I am not so sure anyone here is doing WJEC this year. My students took the exam last week. Most thought it was OK. They felt it was a fair paper with no surprises. Whether that will be reflected in their grades I cannot say.

It would be interesting to know if anyone out there is doing WJEC .
On the other hand, if you are asking how people who took WJEC last year and the year before got on, I think the answer would be pretty well overall as far as I can recall. There are several threads posted where they exchanged their ideas and their results.

All my last year A2 passed, most with A B or C. The AS passed with a, b c and a couple of d grades. I did have three u grades at AS but there were reasons for that and I knew they were going to fail long before they got near an exam paper.

Yeah I quite enjoyed the core studies and I found breaking them up into little bits to learn was alot simpler than focusing on the whole studies as it made it more manageable. I hope your exam went okay today, I'm hoping pY3 will go okay next Friday by py4 looks nasty!
