Teeside or Sunderland Uni for business?

I don’t have the best grade only 4 maths and 5/4 in English but 5gcses in total that are Cs, I went from school and have been doing a business diploma and I’m on my second year I’m predicted to get d* and d* which is 112 ucas.

I’m wanting to study somewhere near my home in Durham I was wondering which is the best for business, university of Sunderland or Teeside uni?

Hi there,

Great to hear that you're considering us for your university choice.
The University of Sunderland was ranked 16th (out of 131 universities) in the ‘University of the Year’ category of the Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSC) 2019, and 9th in the 'Student Support' category (the WUSC are the only national awards voted for by students. Sunderland was also recently named University of the Year for Social Inclusion (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021) and our We Care programme picked up the Widening Access Initiative (Retention and Progression) Award at the 2020 NEON awards.

Business is a great subject and we have a range of Business and Management courses to suit your future career goals. Was there a particular area of Business you were interested in? Our management courses share a common first year, which enables you to focus on your chosen specialism of Management, HRM, Finance, Marketing or Economics. Our undergraduate Business and Management courses are ranked 1st (of 14 institutions, 201 respondents) for Overall Engagement (UKES, 2020) and the Business School is a member of ‘The Association of Business Schools’

Shallin is a current MBA student of ours, I've linked her online profile here should you wish to ask her any questions about her student experience.
You may also find our recent MBA webcast useful that features our current academics, you can watch it on-demand here

If you have any other questions, please do reach out

That’s definitely a lot of great information for me to consider thank you.
How is the course marked like how much is coursework and how much is Exams? I asked at Teeside and they said international business and supply chain management only had one multiple choice exam I forgot to ask how business management was marked.

I’m hesitant to go onto a course with several exams as I feel I perform much better with coursework.

Also I wonder what is the average class size, At Teeside I was told their would be 100+ in lectures and seminars would have a maximum of 25.

Also how much ‘contract teaching/learning’ I’m unsure of the term but I heard something like that on YouTube?

The business management course full time

Thanks for confirming!

So, the Business and Management course assessment is all based around coursework (reports, portfolios, projects, case studies, posters, blogs, podcasts, videos etc) so no exams! Regarding the delivery of the course, due to the current pandemic we will be delivering a hybrid model of teaching and learning which combines face-to-face and online teaching, to ensure that you can undertake your course with us and keep safe.

The course will include weekly face-to-face module session time alongside students within your tutorial group, online module sessions and online guest lectures, practitioner talks and skills-based activities relevant to your course. Here is a link to our 2021 guidance which provides more information on the latest position, as this is developing all the time.

I hope this answers your queries, but do let me know if there is anything else you need
