SRA DBA and Financial checks

Hi All,

I’m currently going through the SRA checks and have paid for the pre screening that goes through Atlantic Data.

Its come back ok but further questions are asking questions about financial issues e.g missed payments which I’ve had a few. I’m going to answer truthfully but have noticed at no point before I submit my application do they ask for my permission to do ANY sort of credit checks.

How do they get access to my financial information without my consent?

Hi what was the outcome for you? I have one missed payment, which I assume will show up on the pre-screening? I note that the check is for financial history as well as criminal.

Please could you advise how you got on? I have had a few missed payments too - however this did not come up as part of my screening. The check that Atlantic Data did came back fine and the SRA allowed me to progress onto the next stage which was admissions. However one of the questions on admission application is "have you failed to keep up with any payments". Surely they would know i have through my screening? But this did not get picked up? Also, is it just the information that comes back from DBS that they look at or do they obtain your full credit report as part of the admission process? On the admission application, they do not ask for consent in obtaining my credit file. So i assume they do not actually obtain your full credit report?

Hi I know your post was quite a while ago did you ever find out whether Atlantic carry out a full credit check or not?

The old admission form used to say this..
In the declaration: I understand that you will make whatever checks are necessary to verify the information I have given.
AND in the privacy notice: For the purpose of conducting the required checks, your information may be shared with Credit Reference Agencies.

They have moved the admission applications to online so I'm not sure if they still include this, but I would think you must be prepared for them to conduct a credit search as part of the admission process. However whether they actually do, I'm not sure they would disclose that information.

Hi, were you asked further questions upon your screening being returned? Or when you went to apply for admission?

Did anyone get back to you about this?

Can someone provide an update with this thread and what information is actually shared from your credit report with the SRA?

The whole thing.

They will come back to you if there’s any info they want or deem missing.

My advice is to do a statement (including subsequent responses) and to take the approach is extreme candour. Send it all. Better that than to be suspected to be dishonest or hiding anything.
